Work shifts
What is a work shift?
Section titled “What is a work shift?”A work shift is the time a cashier is responsible for one lane / drawer. Open a shift at the start of the day, ring up orders against it, then close at the end with a cash count.
Every sale you take at the lane or through “create order” is stamped with the active shift — that’s how end-of-day reports know which cashier took which cash drawer.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”- Decide your store and which lane (két) you’ll work at. If the lane was already opened by someone else, you’ll see their shift — pick a different lane, or ask them to close.
- Make sure the cash drawer has the opening float.
Open a shift
Section titled “Open a shift”From the vendor dashboard, Sales activity → Work shifts, then Open shift.

You’ll fill in:
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Store | Already selected from the top bar. |
| Lane (register) | Pick the lane this drawer belongs to. |
| Shift label | e.g. Morning, Afternoon, Full day. |
| Opening cash | How much cash is in the drawer at start. |
| Opening slips | Number of invoice / voucher / card receipts on hand. |
| Cashier(s) | Just you by default — owner can add a second if shared. |
Once opened, you’ll see the shift on the POS screen header so all sales route here.
During the shift
Section titled “During the shift”- Sell as usual — every order attributed to this lane automatically.
- Add items from warehouse — if the shelf is empty, mark the order awaiting pickup and use Warehouse board to fill it from the back.
- Switch cashier mid-shift — owners only. Reassign once; the drawer stays put.
- Check stats — open the shift detail to see live paid orders, cashier breakdown, and payment mix for the shift so far.
Close the shift
Section titled “Close the shift”At end of session, open the shift and click Close shift.
You’ll fill in:
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Closing cash (actual) | Count the drawer and enter the total. |
| Closing slips | Final count of invoice / voucher / card receipts. |
| Handover basis | Drawer (hand over the drawer physically) or Ledger (cash goes to safe, ledger carries the balance forward). |
| Handover amount | Cash the next shift / opener starts with. |
| (optional) close payment terminal batch | Settle the card reader for the day. When this is on, the shift only closes if the terminal confirms batch settlement. |
The shift detail suggests closing slip counts based on what was sold — verify against your actual count, then save.
After close
Section titled “After close”- The next shift at the same lane can optionally carry forward the closing cash as its opening float.
- Final cash reconciliation appears under Finance → Reports once the day closes.
Common questions
Section titled “Common questions”It says “another shift is already open at this lane.” Only one cashier can hold a lane at a time. Close the open shift first, or use a different lane.
Owner wants to share a shift with another cashier. Owners can reassign an open shift to a single other cashier — drawers are not split. For mid-shift handovers, close + reopen.
Cash count differs from the suggestion. Use the numbers you actually counted. The cash handover / ledger is what you record — investigate the difference in the Activity log.
Closing failed because of “card terminal batch.” Make sure the terminal is online and reachable. The shift stays open until the batch settles — try again when the terminal reconnects.
